How many times have you looked at a photo of yourself and grimaced? Or poked yourself in the tum while looking in the mirror and thinking unkind thoughts? Or maybe even canceled plans because of a bad body image day? No one is immune to having bad body image days and you’re not alone.
There are so many contributing factors that play into our body image, and they can come at us from all sides; The media we consume, our friends, our families (definitely our families in many cases), and for queer people who exist in marginalized bodies in particular, there are even more systemic barriers that can contribute to a negative body image. During this boot camp, we will deep dive into the science of body image, identify the factors that contribute to our body image and sense of self, and most importantly, do the work of identifying how we can strengthen our body image even on the days when it’s hardest. This bootcamp is for Queer folks regardless gender identity (or lack thereof) who are ready to stop letting a poor body image hold them back in their day to day lives. It’s for Queer folks who are ready to get vulnerable and honest about how their body image is impacting them, and do the work to change their body image for the better.
Queer folks in particular may have unique body image challenges, and being able to talk about these in a setting with other queer folks who may have shared experiences is critical to helping your brain understand that you’re not in this alone. It can be easy to use having a bad body image day as yet another stick to beat yourself with, but discussing these issues in a group setting allows you to give yourself the same compassion you extend to your group mates, and that can be powerfully transformative. Some of the biggest takeaways from the retreat won’t just be our “formal” learning, but rather the in-between moments you have with other attendees as you process the thoughts and emotions that come up for you. Community learning and growth is powerful magic.

A few things to note:
All rooms will be private (single occupancy)
There are 2 ADA-compliant / wheelchair accessible rooms on the 1st floor of the hotel that are available on a first come, first served basis
All group learning will take place on the 1st floor of the hotel and will be accessible for those who use mobility aides
In addition to lovely accommodations, we will also have delicious catered meals to give us an opportunity to break bread together, discuss our thoughts from the day’s lessons, and revel in the magic that is part of being in a community of folks committed to doing the work of improving their body image
At Body Image Bootcamp, we'll build community, give you loads of opportunities to relax and be pampered, and most importantly, we'll do a deep dive into body image; how it's formed, how it impacts us and the world around us, and how we can change it for the better.
